Overview and Demographics

The estimated population of SSP was about 372,000 in 2005. The figure has been relatively stable in recent years, at 366,000 in 1996 and 354,000 in 2001. It is expected that consequential to the developments at the West Kowloon Reclamation Area (WKRA) and the redevelopments of several public housing estates, the population of SSP District will climb up to 382,000 in 2009.

Objective
By retrieving the records from AEIS database for the demographics, types and outcome of all injured attendance of the Sham Shui Po regional hospital: Caritas Medical Centre, the identified area code was as namely Sham Shui Po with the purpose of depicting an overall picture of injury event at Sham Shui Po.
Methodology
Four-year data was downloaded from the AEIS with trauma code identified. It was marked by AED physician upon patient discharge. Data was retrieved from Caritas Medical Centre, a local hospital which provides medical service to Sham Shui Po District, Kowloon, Hong Kong.
Result Finding
    -The total 79,885 attendance within four years time (2002-2005) included in the study.
    -Male played the major portion with age below 65.
    -Major types of injury were Domestic (38608, 48.33%) and Industrial (19096, 23.90%).
     Sport Injury (6268, 7.85%), and Common Assault (4968, 6.22%) are also
     important for considered.
    -Elderly age above 64 and children age 0-14 were highly susceptible to domestic injury.
