Various Safety and Health Promotion Programs were launched by SSP DC Healthy and Safe Community Steering Committee, local hospital, non government organizations to promote healthy and safe community concepts to the residents. Examples were:
Promote healthy and safe community concept to local residents
By using colouring competition, identify the unsafe spots competition, carnival approach, game booths to delineate the concepts occupational safety and health, home & community safety and healthy eating to the residents. Over 6,000 students and residents had attended the program. |

¡§Exercise together¡¨ was an exercise program organized by SSP DC Healthy and Safe Community Steering Committee and Department of Health. Residents met three times a week and exercised under supervision. Regular exercise could improve balance and bone density. Thus, the risk of fall in older age could be lessened. Besides, the cohesiveness of neighborhood was further enhanced. 140 residents participated at the program |

A project aimed to promote the importance of healthy eating for families in 2004. The dietary intake of the family was input into ¡§DietPal¡¨ computerized system everyday. Dietitian would give online feedback upon family¡¦s dining habits. Dietary advice was given if needed. 54 families had joined the program. The activity also promoted harmony in the family. |

| Hypertension awareness programme |

To decrease the risk of stroke and increase the awareness of hypertension, 10 blood pressure checking points were set up in the community centers in 2006. Citizens and elderly were encouraged to check their blood pressure regularly by using the automated blood pressure monitor in the centers. Territory wide health educational program were organized to promote the importance of healthy lifestyles to prevent hypertension. Over 2,000 numbers of elderly and residents had performed self blood pressure checking in the centers. |
