There are 4 community halls and 3 community centers, 3 swimming pools, 5 indoor games halls, 1 squash court, 1 squash and table-tennis center, and 4 libraries in Sham Shui Po. Citizens can enjoy leisure, cultural and recreational activities in the district. In promoting the concept of 'Sport for All' and encouraging people to participate in regular recreation and sports activities, Leisure and Cultural Service Department (LCSD) organizes a wide variety of training courses, recreational activities, sports programmes and competitions through the District Leisure Services Offices. The department also provides free physical activities for the senior citizens during non-busy hours to encourage participation, to increase their balance. Besides, SSP District Council also supports various sport activities to encourage citizens, students to pursue a healthy lifestyle through regular physical exercise.

Participation in sport carries potential for injury. According to AEIS, sport injury is the second cause for CMC AED attendance for age 5-14, whereas it is the third cause of AED attendance for age group of 15-24. Most sports injuries are related to lower limbs injury that can be treated effectively, and most people who suffer injuries can return to a satisfying level of physical activity after an injury. Many sports injuries can be prevented if people take the proper precautions. Therefore government departments such as LSCD, Department of Health promulgate precautions taken prior to any physical exercise via media, notice in the district leisure service offices, schools, etc. Information on common types of sport injury, preventive measures taken can be download from the web site of Central Health Education Unit, Department of Health. Besides, posters are available to increase public awareness on safety measures taken during physical exercises.
