Fire Safety Ambassadors were trained and set up in schools by Fire Service Department to increase students¡¦ awareness on fire prevention. Arrangements were made for them to participate in various kinds of fire prevention promotional activities, which include distribution of fire prevention pamphlets to the public, and visits to fire service units such as the Fire Services Training School and the Fire Services Communication Centre. Up to 25-7-06, there are 3,500 fire safety ambassadors trained. |

Sham Shui Po District Council, local government departments, non-government organization also organized various health promotion activities such as carnivals, colouring competition, quiz to students to increase their safety awareness on road safety. | Child Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation and First Aid Training Program |
|
Primary and secondary schools students were invited to attend the program organized by the Resuscitation Training Centre of Caritas Medical Centre (CMC), the regional hospital in Sham Shui Po. Its aim was to enhance children¡¦s safety concept in schools, at home and in sports. The program included first aid training, cardiac pulmonary resuscitation, bandaging skills and a guided tour to Accident & Emergency Department of CMC. Over 200 students participated. |

| Clean and Safe Environment Promotion |

Sham Shui Po School Liaison Committee, Hong Kong Community Youth Club jointly organized a promotional program to increase teachers, students and parents awareness on clean and safe environment. There were over 50 schools with about 2,000 participants joined the ¡§Keep Our School Clean¡¨ program. Moreover, 27 schools also joined a 1-year program ¡§Environment & Hygiene Community Inspection scheme¡¨ to encourage the teachers, students and parents to spot check the cleanliness of the public area near the schools. The number of participants was about 1,000. They reported regularly with suggestions given to concerned departments. In addition to increase awareness, there were improvement in cleanliness and hygiene in school and the nearby environment. |

Avian Influenza and flu prevention posed infection risk to the community. Territory wide publicity and education had been carried out by Central Health Promotion, Department of Health. As the local hospital in Sham Shui Po, Caritas Medical Centre had organized health talks for primary school students and parents aiming at creating a safe and healthy school environment, and a safe living environment. Over 2,500 students and parents had attended the talk. |

The incidence of childhood obesity was increasing in Hong Kong. Two projects had been jointly organized by SSP DC Healthy and Safe Community Steering Committee with local university, Caritas Medical Centre, non-government organizations to promote healthy eating. |

Students input their dietary intake through ¡§DietPal¡¨ computerized system everyday. Dietitian would give online feedback upon students¡¦ dining habits. 300 students had joint the program & the message of healthy eating was able to delineate through the programme. |
| Healthy breakfast menu design competition 2005/2006 |

Healthy breakfast menu design competition was organized with about 2,000 entries from kindergarten, primary and junior form secondary students. The project increased students¡¦ awareness of healthy eating as well as their families¡¦ members. |
