Pedestrian Schemes for Sham Shui Po
Part-time Pedestrian Street
Sham Shui Po is one of the busiest districts with substantial commercial, retails and other economic activities. It is also a popular tourist destination for electrical and computer commodities. At Apliu Street (one of the famous scenic spot of Sham Shui Po), the pedestrian volume exceeds 5,500 numbers per hour at peak. Insufficient road space to accommodate both vehicular traffic and pedestrians may result in traffic accidents.
In order to improve the environment and safety for pedestrians, Transport Department, with the support from SSP DC, has already implemented pedestrian schemes in the more crowded parts of Sham Shui Po such as Apliu Street.

Whilst wearing seat belt did not prevent traffic accident from happening, it could reduce the possibility of death or serious injury if drivers and or passengers were unfortunately involved in a traffic accident. So, by law, drivers and passengers must fasten seat belts in all public transport and private car if there were seat belts facilities.
