On 9 November 2006, Sham Shui Po District was formally designated by WHO as Safe Community, Professor Leif SVANSTROM, Chairman of WHO Collaborating Centre on Community Safety Promotion, attended the signing ceremony. Dr. NG Tat-lun, Chairman of Occupational Safety and Health Council, Mr. TAM Kwok-kiu, MH, JP, Chairman of Sham Shui Po District Council, Mr. WONG Kam-kuen, MH, Chairman of Sham Shui Po Healthy and Safe Community Steering Committee, also attended the presentation of certificate for the designation. All attending members of Sham Shui Po Health and Safe Community Steering Committee took a photo together.

Available are various sorts of materials on health and safety information , including leaflets, booklets, videos and photographs etc. free for residents to browse and read.
